JOHNSON posted by Merlyn Hollomon Whiting on Sunday, July 26, 1998

Haley JOHNSON and his family are in Terrell Co. Ga. in 1860, 1870 and 1880 census. In Lee Co. Ga. in 1850. First wife listed as Alsey, second wife listed as Mary. Haley and Alsey came to Ga. from S.C. Would like to know what county in S. C. they are from and would also like to know maiden names of both wives. Would like to correspond with any descendants of Haley JOHNSON. I noted on the Georgia Historical Marker in front of Chickasawhatchee Baptist Church that he gave three acres of land for the church to be built on. Does anyone know if he and his wife were charter members. Thanks

LAING, LANG posted by Nola Laing/Lang Barrett on Sunday, July 26, 1998

I am seeking any information on the LAING / LANG Families. I have been researching these families for several years. I have traced some of them back to the 1807 Georgia Land Lottery. Five orphans: LANG (LAING), James, Robert, Cornelius, Charles and David. They made their way down to Liberty where two of the brothers settled ( James and Robert). The other three traveled on to Gadsden County, Florida and purchased land there between 1820-1830. Later, some of them moved to Decatur County and on up to Terrell County. I know there still are some of the descendants living in these areas. Any info would be appreciated.
