BRYAN, BRYANT posted by Fay Roberts on Tuesday, March 7, 2000

I am looking for my BRYANT, O'BRYAN Family. As far back as I can go for certain is my grandfather. His name was Benjamin Robert BRYANT. He was from Carrollton Ms. in Carroll Co. He was born on July 25, 1878 and died on January 1967 in Meridian Ms. We don't know if he was born in Carrollton. I remember my dad telling me that his family came from Terrell Co. Georgia and that durning the Civil War they all scattered. My mother tells me that the family owned allot of land near Atlanta. PaPa Ben married Florence Azeloa CANTERBURY, we think she was from north Alabama. They had seven children, James Harvey, Kathren, Mille Mae, Ira Albert, Vera, Edna and Amy who died at age 2. They lived in Meridian Ms, until their deaths. I don't know if all the children were born in Meridian Ms. or not, I know my dad was. Ben, Florence, and Amy are buried at Bonita, Ms. If anyone has any informaiton on these people please e-mail me at ragley@gulftel.com. Thanks.

SPEIGHT posted by Suzanne Oliver on Saturday, March 11, 2000

I would like information about Thomas Leroy SPEIGHT who came to the area in the 1890s. I am trying to trace where in North Carolina he came from and when he died and where he lived around Bronwood. There is a family story that he was buried in the garden of where they were living but no one knows where that was. Also, I know he was a Methodist Minister who founded a church in Bronwood. I would also be interested in any records of where family members are buried in your area. Thanks ever so much.

DAVIS, HAY posted by Gail Luker Allred on Saturday, April 29, 2000

Is there anyone that can give insight on this family?
William W. HAY was born about 1843 in Georgia. He was in the civil war. He married Lucy (Lousianna) DAVIS. She was the daughter of Elisha DAVIS and Lutitia McLeod DAVIS. William and Lucy were married about 1861 probably in Webster, Randolph, Stewart, or Terrell County, Georgia. They were listed on the 1870 Webster County census. In 1880 they had moved to Henry County, Alabama. William got a land there in 1883. He apparently died shortly after. Each time he was listed as "HAY". However, the next time I found the family, they were in Santa Rosa County, Florida, on the 1885 state census. They were listed as follows:

They also had a sister that was married by the time of the census: Letitia HAY(S) born 1864 in Georgia had married Burrie Clifton LASSITER in Henry County, Alabama, on January 20, 1880. They were living in Santa Rosa County as well.

Lucy married Thomas HOPPER in Santa Rosa County and died soon after.

My g-grandfather was Sidney Hiram HAYS. The family changed the spelling to HAYES. He married Bettie BOOKER in 1893 in Santa Rosa County, Florida. They had the following children:

Sidney and Bettie had an adopted Indian son named Riley HAYES born 1889 and died after 1920 probably in Monroe County, Alabama.

Sidney Martin HAYES was my grandfather.

Here are some questions that I need help on: What happened to the following siblings: William S. Jefferson Berry (probably Asberry) Josephine and Nettie?

Letitia lived the rest of her life in Santa Rosa County, Florida.

Alice married Richard AMOS and lived the rest of her life in Santa Rosa.

Sidney Hiram died in Santa Rosa.

Martin HAYES was supposed to have become a Pinkerton Agent. I've been told that Berry went to Louisiana and Jeff went to Birmingham, Alabama. Nettie may have gone to Seattle, Washington. I have no clue as to what happened to Josephine or William S.

Who were the parents of William W. HAY? Who were his siblings?

I believe that Martin HAY may have been his father since the name Martin is repeated in the lineage. Seaborn may have been his father. Can anyone help or give an educated guess? Does anyone have a guess to way the family changed there name? Any bit of information on the above would be helpful!!!!!

Thanks in advance.
