LANEY, WHEARRY, WILLIAMS posted by Yolanda on Wednesday, May 17, 2000

Can anyone tell me what Parrott was called before 1889? I had been going through census rolls looking for my ancestors in the Parrott area only to learn last week (from this site!) that Parrott was not called that until 1889. More specifically I'm looking for George Amos WILLIAMS a mulatto and Dorcas WHEARRY...the LANEY name comes from Dorcas' sister I believe her name was Katie Whearry LANEY, whose husband ( I think his name was Walter LANEY) killed her after she came in from the field one day. Any information about any of these people would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
