LANEY, LEWIS, MITCHELL, PRIMUS, STEPHENS, WHEARRY, WILLIAMS posted by Yolanda on Saturday, July 8, 2000

I am looking for information on my ancestors who were from Parrott in Terrell County. My ggrandparents were Geroge and Dorcas WILLIAMS. Dorcas' parents were Martin and Viney WHEARRY, and Martin was born in SC.

Dorcas Whearry WILLIAMS died between 1905 and 1910, and after she died, George WILLIAMS moved himself and his 12 children to Sylvester in Worth County near the Dougherty/Worth County line close to the town of Acree.

Dorcas was said to have had a sister named Katie WHEARRY who married a man maybe named Walter LANEY who killed her one day after she came in from the fields...any infomation on them would be appreciated also.

I am also trying to see if my ggrandmother Fannie MITCHELL could have maybe been Fannie HUCKABAY who married Charles MITCHELL. I'm only going on a haunch here, I have no eveidence to prove she was the Fannie MITCHELL who was my ggrandmother. I found a Fannie HUCKABAY who married a Charles MITCHELL, and am trying to put 2 and 2 together to get at least my grandfather Fred MITCHELL...

If I had the name of some of the plantations in the Parrott/Dawson/Sasser area, maybe eventually I could pinpoint where George's parents were during the days of slavery. He was a mulatto, but he never spoke of his family once they moved to Sylvester. We have no idea who or if he had any brothers or sisters, aunts or uncles....any and all information would be most greatly appreciated....believe me! Thank You.....

WELCH posted by Byron Williams on Tuesday, August 1, 2000

Trying to find additional information about Felix WELCH. He lived in Dawson, Georgia during the late 1890's to early 1900's. He died there Oct. 10, 1902 (I have newspaper clipping obit). He also married Laura MIMS on Dec. 15, 1898 (recorded Book C page 238). Probate Judge Betty Wise had sent me some information in 1987, but I still need to determine where in Ireland he was born, who were his parents?, did he serve in the U.S. military?, where did he live before coming to Dawson? Obit says he was a member of the police force? Any remaining records on Felix Welch? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. If this man is person I believe he is, this will greatly help the search of my family history.

I am trying to locate Flewellen Cemetery where my grandfather, George Luther BRIGHTWELL, may be buried. It could be located in the Dawson or Parrot area. I suspect it may have been a private family cemetery as the name of the farmer who owned the land my grandfather leased was FLEWELLEN.
