TH-GA-INFANTRY posted by Linda Snow Davis on Tuesday, May 1, 2001

FOR THOSE WHO MAY NOT HAVE SEEN MY PREVIOUS POST: I AM WRITING A REGIMENTAL HISTORY ON THE 17TH GEORGIA INFANTRY REGIMENT AND WOULD LIKE TO LOCATE AS MANY DESCENDANTS OF THE SOLDIERS AND OFFICERS AS POSSIBLE SO THAT THEY HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO SUBMIT ANY INFORMATION THEY WOULD LIKE TO INCLUDE IN THE BOOK. THE BOOK WILL INCLUDE EVERY MENTION OF THE 17th GEORGIA INFANTRY IN THE "WAR OF THE REBELLION OFFICIAL RECORDS", BETTER KNOWN AS THE "OR VOLS", CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER OF ALL THE BATTLES THE 17th REGIMENT WAS ENGAGED IN, MAPS OF BATTLES, A COMPLETE ROSTER OF EACH COMPANY, INCLUDING BRIEF GENEALOGICAL DATA AS SPACE PERMITS, DIARIES, LETTERS ABSTRACTED COMPILED SERVICE RECORDS AND PENSION CLAIMS, PRISON INFORMATION AND BURIAL LOCATIONS. A SPECIAL ADDITION IN THE BOOK WILL BE A PHOTO OF THE REGIMENT'S FLAG THAT WAS PRESENTED TO THE LAST SURVIVING VETERANS OF STEWART CO., GA. BY THE UNITED DAUGHTERS OF THE CONFEDERACY. I HAVE DONE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AND CONTINUE TO SEARCH RECORDS AND ANTICIPATE PUBLICATION OF THE BOOK TO BE WITHIN THE NEXT 1-2 YEARS (hopefully).AS I HAVE POSTED NUMEROUS MESSAGES ON THE INTERNET, I HAVE RECEIVED A GREAT RESPONSE FROM DESCENDANTS SHARING INFORMATION AND PHOTOS FOR THE BOOK. THERE HAS BEEN A GREAT INTEREST IN PURCHASING THE BOOK AND I WANT IT TO BE AS COMPLETE AS POSSIBLE. THIS BOOK WILL NOT ONLY SERVE AS A PERSONAL SATISFACTION OF HAVING ACCOMPLISHED THE PUBLICATION, BUT TO BE ABLE TO LEAVE BEHIND MY CONTRIBUTION OF LONG HOURS RESEARCHING THESE BRAVE MEN WHO GAVE SO MUCH IN THE MOST DEVASTATING EVENT IN THE HISTORY OF AMERICA.

Secondly, I have a photograph of a young man that belonged to my grandmother. She wrote, Lucius BREEDLOVE - Dawson, GA on it. Does anyone know who he was??
