ATKINSON, NELSON posted by G.S. Highsmith on Monday, January 14, 2002

I have a lithograph that showes the Car Works of the Dawson Manufacturing Company, Dawson, Georgia and showes O.O. NELSON as President of the company and Henry ATKINSON as Superentendent. I am trying to date the business and lithograph. The business was that of Rail Box Car Manufacturing and had to be before the Civil War. Some locals and a Historical Marker confirm a Gun Shoppe that made rifles for the Civil War and it is believed that the Box Car Plant may have been converted for this effort. Can you be of help?

ETHEREDGE, JENNINGS, LAWHON, PARKER posted by Belva Gurr on Saturday, February 23, 2002

I am looking for any information on Noel LAWHON's family and his daughter Alletha's in-laws.

She married William J. PARKER 4-25-1833 in Lee/Terrell County. The PARKERs married into the Lott JENNINGS family which also included the ETHEREDGEs. The JENNINGS and ETHEREDGEs came from SC. I have quite a bit on the SC side but have almost nothing on the LAWHON/PARKERs. Lott's daughter, Ellen Hasseltine (Hassie) married Marcellus Hartwell PARKER s/o Wm. J. on 12-13-1880 in Terrell County but moved soon after to FL where she remained until MH's death in 1895.

William J. and Alletha Lawhon PARKER had 12 children, 10 who lived to adulthood and most remained in the area.

William was very active in the Masonic Lodges of Weston No.80, helped form Furlow Lodge No.124, Botsford. Was exalted in L. Dwelle Chapter No.17, Lumpkin and joined Palmer Council No.9 in Lumpkin in 1853.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. BG
