I am not sure if Bronwood is located in Sumter or Lee Co., or Terrell Co. but if anyone knows where it is located or knows where I can obtain info about Bronwood, please let me know. I have ancestors from Ellaville, Ga., who visited Bronwood apparently frequently in the early 1900's and I am trying to research the area. JONES, LLOYD, MARCHANT, SMITH, SUMNER posted by Mary Beth Marchant on Tuesday, January 14, 2003

I am looking for anyone who might have a Cemetery book for the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery in Terrell County. We have done a partial survey of the cemetery and found many Jones, Green's, Culpeppers, Harrell's. I am looking specifically for any proof that Benjamin Tarpley Smith and his wife Elizabeth Jones Smith are buried there. From a family history the info is that he died 2-27-1894 and that she died 6-5-1893. This information was provided in a history written by Benjamin Smiths grandson, Benjamin Clifford Hogue about 1940. Please contact me if anyone has any information regarding this matter.

DUMAS posted by Harris Hill on Sunday, June 1, 2003

I'm trying to locate date of death and place of burial of as many CSA veterans of Co. G, 5th Ga as possible. Covington Dumas enlisted Co. E, "Dawson Volunteers" May 11, 1861, transferred to Co. G, "Schley Guards" July 1, 1862, and was discharged by furnishing a substitute, same date. Married Sarah F. Williams, Aug. 18, 1857 in Terrell Co., divorced same before May 19, 1867 when he married C.E. Price in Terrell Co. Shown on Terrell Co. census 1870. Issued a FL land patent in Marion Co. FL jointly with Sarah F. (Williams) Allsopp, divorcee of Covington Dumas, deceased. That patent was dated May 25, 1885. Unable to find Covington Dumas on 1880 Terrell. I have located a B.H. Covington Dumas buried Union Primitive Baptist Church, b. 27 Dec 1831 d. 23 Apr 1878, in Lamar Co. Right age and dates seem plausible but not sure if same guy. Does anyone know when he died and/or where he was buried? Harris Hill harrishill@starband.net

We have a Confederat tombstone for a John G. Wimberly and would like to know exactly where to erect it. He died March 17, 1926, a few years after his wife, the former Claudie Gregg, passed away in Calhoun County.
